Pirate Ship

My Reflection;
I was learning about nets for our 3D shapes. We made a pirate ship and we needed to make our nets to make our pirate ship. It flt good about this learning because we had lots of fun making this. My next step is to try to work with some new people and also be more focus on my learning.

My Reflection:
This was fun because we had no learning during the day we did this. The best thing about making this adding all the materials and making thing we haven't made before. I hardest bit was putting it together.

Narrative Writing

My Reflection:
This Activity was harder than I thought. I had to remember lots of different stuff. We had to put in lots of detail about the story.

Narrative Plan

My Reflection:
This is my plan for my Narrative writing. The first coloum is about the plot, retelling the the chapter I chose. 2nd coloum is about the main character, Yeats. The last coloum is about my character, Mr Sutcliff. It was harder in the last coloum because we had to think about what the character was thinking about.

Over this week we have been learning a lot of different stuff.....

• Ballad Poem
• Started a new book
• Paper mache

We have been learning a ballad poem. To make a ballad poem you have to have 4 lines in each stanza, ABCB rhyming pattern and structure like a story - introduction,ordered body,conclusion. Its okay to break the rule a bit. Rhyming words can be close- not exact.

For the Paper mache we first got a ball and put it in the plastic bag.
Then we ripped up newspaper and wet it.
Then we stuck the paper on the ball with the plastic bag.
After that we got a pot and put in glue.
We then put glue on the newspaper as well with the plastic bag.
We let it dry and made our smaller planets the next day.

For our new book we are reading Between two Ends. Its about a boy named Yeats, he meets a stranger called Mr Sutcliff. When Yeats and his parents visit his grandmother's creepy old house, Yeats reunites a pair of pirate bookends and uncovers the amazing truth: Years ago, Yeats's father traveled into The Arabian Nights. 

My Ballad

My Reflection:WAL how to write a ballad. A ballad is a rhyming poem that tells a story. It was a bit tricky because we had to rhyme the next words. Next time I will try more of these because it helps me with my writing.

Show don't tell

My Reflection: I was learning how to write a show don't tell to add inference to my writing. This writing is based on camp, what was my favorite activity. This writing was easy for me because I had done this kind of writing before. My next step is to try more writing like this.

DIARY RECOUNT: Term 2 Week 8

Terrific Tuesday: Terrific Tuesday is when the year 4,5 and 6 get put into class and in each class they do something like, say I go to room 12 and in room 12 they make flowers and some other cool things. And that is Terrific Tuesday.

The Green Book: Everyday after morning tea our teacher Mrs Graham reads us a book and the book is obviously The Green Book and people should really read it.

Fraction of a Set

 Today we did a math problems and I learnt many new things. First we had to complete this task it was part of our SDL (Self Directed Learning). Next time I will try more of this because it's so fun and it can help us with our learning.

Hello it me... Olidah today I was playing a math game called Finding Unit Fractions of a set it was a bit tricky to get the video and sound on it to forever but I nailed it. Next time I will try more of these to get much more better.:)

Matilda who Told Lies and was Burned to Death

My Reflection:

This was easy for me because the question's were easy to answer and there was one question that really had to make me stop thinking and the question was did you connect with the story? So then I had to go back in the past and think of a time I lied but learnt a lesson after.

Next time I will try more of these because it was really surprising that the mum had to leave Matilda at home and let her do what ever she could do.

Reflection:

This was really tricky for me because the last word go for past tense was went and my face was like huh.

Next time I will try more of these to get much more better.

This was tricky because the last two Take and make weren't maked and taked they were took and made. 
Next time I will try more of these so I can get better.

Reflection:
This was easy because I have done suffix a lot at my old school.
Next I will try something different I don't know.

We made a Venn Diagram to compare little Red Riding Hood and Big Bad wolf.

 This was really easy because all I had to do is copy it down on the computer.
Next time I will think of some more ideas.

This was difficult because it was hard to find adverbs and verbs.

Next time I will try my best and work as a team as hard as I could.

This was easy for me and Kael because we work as a team and finish it on time.

The most challenging thing for me was to answer the Comprehension question.

My Reflection:

This was tricky because I had to imagine I was in the water and do my Y chart which help me a lot with some interesting words.

Next time I will try really hard to make my writing more interesting.

This was really easy because I have done this a lot of time at my old school.

Next time I'm going to try and do more of this so I can get more good.

ENLARGEMENT ART

First of all we each numbered 1 part of the picture
Then we had to enlarge it
Next we had to copy the picture we got on our big piece of paper.
After that we had to colour it in with pastel.
Last of all we put them all in order and it made this a colourful lion.

This activity was really tricky because you have draw them in the right order.

We chose the name loyal lion because loyal is when your faithful and true and lions are brave and strong.

By helping others,taking risk and making new friends.

The Orchard

 WALT: write a description that SHOWS rather that TELLS.

I can see tall huge trees that smell minty and fresh. I can hear buzzing bees and birds humming. I can smell dirt,bark and hay around the tree. I can feel caterpillar crawling on my hand,biting my skin. I can see butterfly flying around it is so beautiful. Some of the plants were rough and smooth. The beautiful butterfly were shining so brightly.

Letter to the author

Dear Brothers Grimm,

I really liked your book Hansel and Gretel. What I liked about Hansel and Gretel was that it had lots of detail so that people know all about it. Also I really like the picture and how you put lots of adjectives in it.

Next time I might write a letter to you but from another story.

Math Word Problems

WALT:find the key info in a question.

Question:A mobile phone company has 860 customers in New Zealand and 890 customers in other countries. In total,how many customers does it have? 

Total=1750

800 + 800 = 1600

60 + 90 =150

1600 + 150 = 1750

Finding the key info was really easy what I really did was looking through the words very carefully. I found this really easy too,my strategies were addition and adding it all together. My next step will be using different strategies.
